Jet2.com Testify to the Popularity of Dalaman with new Flights from UK
Jet2.com has announced the launch of a new base at East Midlands airport. Among the new routes are flights to Dalaman, one of the most popular tourism destinations in Turkey from £69.99. Jet2.com has also said that customers will be able to book package holidays online to the destinations starting from £269.99 for 7nights.
This is yet more good news for the Turkish property market; it is both a testament to the massively rising popularity of tourism to Turkey from the UK, and will also be a major help to its continued growth. Julian walker, Director of Turkish property specialists Spot Blue said:
"This is just the latest in a series of new routes to Turkey that have been announced by major airlines from the UK and around the world this year. It is, like those that went before it, a testament to the fact that Turkey's popularity as a tourist destination continues to grow, and also will add to this growth in Turkish tourism from the UK."
The Association of British Travel Agents attracted media attention last year when one of their larger members revealed that Dalaman had overtaken several of Spain's most popular regions in terms of popularity with British tourists.
"Though Spain is still most popular [with British tourists] overall, Dalaman is without doubt one of Turkey's most popular regions, and the addition of further budget airline coverage will be massively beneficial to its continued growth, as well as the growth of neighbouring Fethiye" Walker added
At the moment Turkey's largest market is Germany, which accounted for 3million Turkish visitors in 2008, Britain was a large market with 1.9 million visitors.
Tourism from Britain has been growing for the last several years at an average of 20-25% per year according to the Association of British Travel Agents. A further 25% growth is expected this year. The Turkish government is confident that Britain will be equal to Germany with 3million visitors this year.
