SEO 3.0: Produce Great Content and the Rest Will Follow

Share

SEO has changed in the last couple of years: It isn't about who has the best grasp of keyword trickery, keyword density and keyword placement anymore. It isn't about who has the biggest budget for "link-building". Now it is about writing quality content and building a following of link builders by becoming a valued part of the online community.

The use of social media screams out at us as the best way to build a following, but it is also a good idea to comment on related blogs and forums, and try to help owners of sites that you want to become your friend. It is also a good idea to have an RSS feed burned through Google-owned feedburner.

Then, when you write a great piece of content (or hire someone like me to write it for you), your followers see it, love it and link to it. Over time Google sees that your site is a quality site, with content that people like and want to link to and this will increase your ranking in Google's search results. Google can also see that your site is producing quality informative content on your niche because your feed subscribers are growing.

I can say all this, because though everyone can become a valued member of the social media community, not everyone can write quality content; only a professional writer can do that. I'm not saying that everyone who can write quality content is a professional writer (though most are with the rise of the internet and freelancing); there are some people out there who have neglected their talent.

Of course another factor is time. Many business owners just do not have the time to write the kind of quality content that is necessary, because their business dictates that be in other fields, so again I am safe. Our prices starting from £15 per piece help as well of course.

There are many websites out there still using the old methods of SEO and still obtaining top positions. In fact there is something safe about it, whereas the new methods are still being figured out. But most people can see the value for money you get from having the online community do your link-building for you, and having the production of quality content as the only thing your company must do to get on top and stay there.

Again, most companies are at least trying to get some content going, and start using social media. The spending on social media marketing, things like training and hiring people to grow a business's profile online is set to increase massively in the coming years. Don't get left behind.

Haha, good sense of humour.

And now to provide some useful content instead of just kidding around.

SEO majorly changed in last couple of weeks, with Google filters trying to catch multiple links with same anchor pointing to your site.

So watch out for that :)
Google new algorythm works like a bomb, you cut the wrong wire and boom, you're 100 places down :)

@Krys

You talk of SEO 4.0 but your comment is way back in the old school.

Catching multiple links with same anchors? There is nothing wrong with having links on the same anchors as long as they are part of the natural progression of the web. It is bought and unnatural links that are the problem, whatever the anchor maybe.

Cut the wrong wire, what you mean buy links are do something else blackhat? That always risked losing your position and that is why we here at Write About Property never recommend doing anything but ethical methods.

Nope, I don't mean buying links, I mean manual reciprocal/3 way link exchange or even article links.

Try it yourself on a test site, build 10 links with same anchor and see it being nuked.
I never bought links, I've only done link exchange and not with linkfarms but with real businesses' websites.

As far as I was always concerned there is nothing wrong with link exchange, but it seems that Google doesn't agree :)

@Krys,

Well, thank you for illustrating the point of this article.

I tweeted the other day after receiving a link exchange request: I can't believe so called SEOs are still sending out link requests @WriteAProperty is my username if you want to check.

Google's problem with them is that they are not natural links, they are as much a contrived link as a bought one. They are helping sites that might not be highly relevant to the search get top positions.

Google wants the pages that contain the most relevant information to the search on top, not the ones with the most contrived links. so it is looking at natural links only.

Okay, if you don't mind we'll get into a small argument, if not, just don't publish this comment, I won't mind.

Let's say there's a plumbing company based in Eastbourne, UK, a small town.
There are 5 others.

They rank well because their sites were there before his site. Now two of them are out of businessm but hosting n domain is still there, age domain is there, he has a new site and he doesn't rank well even tho he submitted to local directories and plumbing directory.
Another site in the google results bought 200 squidoo links and ranks very well and didn't get penalized by google.

What do you tell this guy that can't get his business high on google?
His site is genuine, offers better pricing than others and delivers better services AND looks better and is more user friendly, still google prefers the old sites than his and he has no way of getting higher.

What do you tell this plumber? That he can't ask other companies to exchange links with him to help him get higher?

I know what I would tell him. To use my services and I will increase his business by getting him good positions in the search engines, without using link exchanges or black hat techniques, by using quality content. Not gonna give away all my secrets here am I.
