Travel to UK Increases in Second Quarter on Weak Sterling
The weak Pound continues to make the UK a more popular destination for overseas visitors according to new data revealed by the Office of National Statistics.
In the three months ending June this year there were 7.7million visits to the UK from people overseas, this was up 4% on the previous three months, and down by only 4% on the same period last year.
Though the number of visits increased, the amount of money spent by overseas visitors was the same in the three months ending June as it was in the previous three months at £4.2billion. This means that overseas visitors have been spending slightly less on their holidays, which may well be a reflection of Sterling's upward movement in recent months.
