EU Retail Trade up 0.5% in April

I have just written an article with some positive news on the UK economy that perhaps suggests the beginning of a turnaround. And now I have found a very positive indicator of the Euro zone economy: according to a Eurostat press release the volume of retail trade increased by 0.2% in the Euro area, and 0.5% across the entire EU in April compared to March.

Most of the positive news on the UK economy was also on a monthly basis, stemming the flow of major falls on an annual and quarterly basis.

It will be interesting to see if the rise in retail trade coincides with a similar increase in output, which was down 2.0% in March compared to February.
