British High Commission Awards Grant to Cyprus Property Group

The Cyprus Property Action Group (CPAG) has received a grant from the British High Commission in Nicosia. The money is to go towards computer equipment and expenses.

L-R British Consul Claire Lawley said: "The British High Commission is very pleased to recognise the splendid efforts of CPAG in supporting many British people and other nationalities, including Cypriots, with their property problems."

With the growth of the British Community on the Island," she continued: "the aim of the High Commission is to help people to help themselves. CPAG is a shining example of what can be achieved by a group of dedicated volunteers. We wish them every success in their endeavours."

CPAG co-founder Dennis O'Hare said that the group was most grateful for the continued of the British High Commission, especially their public endorsement, which added significant weight to the group's credibility.

The presentation followed the recent event hosted by Caroline Flint MP, UK Minister for Europe, on her recent visit to the island, during which she presented a donation of €50,000 to the ongoing mine clearance efforts on the Green Line.

I purchased a property in Pyrgos in Feb 2007, It has nearly been completed after 2 years, however, the Developer has failed to complete by 1 Feb 2008, and already notreturned to complete the necessary repairs from shabby workmanship including damp alround my property. We are industrial electricity because he has failed to build a Sub station and he has absconded with the residents money for the electericity bill. We paid the authority ourselves again because they were going to cut us off for failure to pay the bill. Is this a fare way to treat 'Europeans or British. Doesn't a contract mean anything to a Cypriot Developer! The sad thing is he still resides in the village and won't come and complete the work for the residents.
